Beltsville Small White
Named for the Beltsville, Maryland program that developed it, the Beltsville Small White was designed to be large enough to feed a small family but not so large as to be too big for the refrigerator. These birds dress out at between 8-15 pounds and are substantially meaty for the Thanksgiving table.
They are a generally docile breed, making them good citizens on the homestead. They are also considered threatened, so would make a wonderful addition to the conscientious breeding program.
